2-inch dia., sch 40, pvc well casing 10-inch diameter steel casing top of sand and gravel unit 2-inch dia. Pvc continuous slot 0.010 screen from 2 ft. Below bentonite seal to 2 ft. Above lower silt/clay till unit 4-inch dia. Steel outer casing with locking cap inner cap ground surface min. 6-inch concrete at surface min. 10-inch diameter bore hole. Quality threaded PVC pipe, 52 millimetre ID Schedule 40, with a machine slotted 3.0 metres long or 1.0 to 1.5 metres long, 0.020 or 0.010 slot screen. A 3.0 metre screen would typically be used for relatively shallow intervals. A 1.0 to 1.5 metre screen would typically be used for relatively deeper intervals. Longer screens may be required.
Overview
Johnson Screens was founded in 1904 by Edward E. Johnson after inventing the world’s first continuous slot wire wrapped well screen. Considered a revolution in technology for the industry, the continuous slot well screen provided more open area per square foot of screen than other conventional methods, allowing more water into the well with more efficiency.
